And so it begins...

I have been talking about starting a blog for a few months now and finally after exhausting the topic to death here it is.

Well here I am. Who am I? I am a single 20-something with domestic ideals. It seems to me that this is kinda a rarity in todays life. The few female friends I have told my housewifery aspirations to tend to look at me like I grew horns and started spitting hellfire. However I see being domestically skilled as admiral and lost in the transition from women having no rights and having to fit the housewife mold to having more rights and having to fit the "career woman" mold. I believe women shouldn't have to be one or the other, and can be anything in between.  Now that is probably the most "deep" thing you will find on this blog, I don't intend this to be some social commentary but rather a light and fun blog to share my little projects with. 

Now don't go thinking I am some domestic goddess keeping a perfect house while I await finding the perfect man....far from it. I am actually terrible at most domestic things. I said they are ideals and are admiral.... but not that I am good at them! 

I've never really learned to cook, except for the few items that come in a box or package (i.e. if you want some kraft mac 'n cheese or some ramen noodles I can totally boil water!). I also keep a very untidy apartment, I live with two friends...and I am probably the most cluttered out of them all. Sitting here in my bed right now there are FOUR laundry baskets of clothes that need tending to, a box of craft things that never got unpacked but is half open, my vanity is strew with open makeup and odds and ends and my floor is damn near unseeable through the dirty clothes that scatter it. But I digress... 

So why the blog? Well now that I live pretty much on my own now I have started to make a more active effort to hone my domestic skills. I always want to share my little triumphs such as successfully cooking something... first recipe from scratch I did all by myself, brocoli, cauiflower, and cheese mini-quiche!  

Or my first knitting attempts... (I am still working on this scarf, so stay tuned for it!)

So this blog is here for me to share my little projects, triumphs and mishaps, and other little things that come and go in my life.  Please feel free to offer commentary, advice or ask me questions :)

Some things that I am currently working on that will find their way here...

• I have been charged to bring the "chocolate" dessert option for christmas, I made a trifle a few weeks ago and plan to attempt that again...
• Knitting my first scarf
• Organizing my bedroom
• Working on "fixer-uppers", I thrift shop a lot and find items that need a little love to be once again be awesome. I have a pile going of items that need some handy work...

and there will be more to come!  This is going to start out as weekly to bi-weekly blog.
